For me it's a natural extension of what I'm already doing. I have a human call center that works for companies in a particular industry. We specialize in having highly trained agents who sound like they're in house with you. For most call centers, this equates to either high wait times or ridiculously high costs. We're able to keep cost and wait time low by kicking over to the A.I. if a CSR doesn't answer right away. The A.I. acts as a tier 1 customer support and then passes the summary to a human CSR who determines whether a follow-up is needed. Massive benefit to our team so they don't have to stress about missing calls as much and for our customers as they can rest assured every caller is taken care of.
After doing this for several months internally, we started selling it. I'm not going to pretend I'm making a fortune, I have 6 clients specifically for the Ai and our pricing is usage-based, but we're making enough now in additional income that it's covering the cost of using it internally. I maintain probably 50+ agents in total by myself, so the model is pretty easily scalable.
Started with Air.Ai in October and started testing with Vapi a few weeks ago. The product is so much more reliable and so far the customer support is at least a lot better than Air's. I'm thinking now that we're working with a more reliable product we'll take off more.
