@Michael P - It's definitely possible, I do exactly this through Make. When you set up a transient assistant in Vapi, it will send a package of info about the call to your webhook (in Make, in my case). The caller id is in that package. I use it to grab the customer info from my CRM and insert that into my assistant prompt before passing it back to Vapi. That way my Vapi assistant already knows everything it needs to know about the caller. For instance, the assistant first message is "Hi, this is Traci, how may I help you?". Caller says something like "did you call me?" and the assistant responds "Yes... is this John?" (or whatever their name is) and goes from there.
