Call id: 93e30bb7-e976-46c7-be06-e551dc690475 Ive had this happen a few times. Ive stopped using the first message because it will say the first message and then still have a delay of 4-5 seconds which sound even stranger, at least when its at the start it can be blamed on the line. Im in Australia so expect some delay but not that kind of latency.
v
@Darnasis I understand that experiencing delays can be frustrating, especially when it affects the flow of your conversations. Latency issues can be influenced by various factors, including network performance, server response times, and the distance data has to travel. To help you better, could you please provide me with more details about the context in which you're experiencing these delays? Are you referring to a delay in voice messages being played or in the overall call setup when using VAPI? Any additional information you can provide will help me assist you more effectively.
You can continue this conversation by mentioning me in the message.
d
@Vapi The delay happened at the start of the call, as you can see from the call example. The person says hello and a full 3 seconds later there is a response where as later on in longer calls the response time drops down to 1-2 seconds
v
@Darnasis I see, initial delays in calls can sometimes be attributed to the system warming up or establishing a stable connection. However, if you're noticing a consistent pattern of delays at the start of calls that improve over time, it might be worth investigating further. It's possible that there could be a specific issue with the initial call setup or audio processing that's causing this delay. To address this, I would recommend checking the following: 1. Network connectivity: Ensure that your internet connection is stable and robust, especially at the beginning of the call. 2. Server location: The physical distance to the server can affect latency. Using servers closer to Australia might help reduce this delay. 3. System resources: Make sure that the system initiating the calls has sufficient resources and isn't experiencing high usage that could cause delays. If you've already looked into these areas and the problem persists, it may be beneficial to reach out to the technical support team with the call ID and specific details of the issue for a more in-depth investigation. Would you like me to guide you on how to contact the support team or is there anything else I can assist you with right now?
d
@Vapi if you could that would be great
v
@Darnasis Absolutely, I can guide you on how to contact the support team. You can reach out to them with the details of your issue, including the call ID you've provided, the specific delays you're experiencing at the start of the calls, and any other relevant information. Here's how you can contact the support team: 1. Visit the official support page or portal for VAPI. 2. Look for a 'Contact Support' or 'Submit a Ticket' option. 3. Fill in the required details, such as your contact information, the nature of the issue, and any relevant technical details like the call ID (93e30bb7-e976-46c7-be06-e551dc690475). 4. Provide a clear description of the problem, mentioning the initial delay and how it improves over time. 5. Submit the ticket. Once the ticket is submitted, the support team should get back to you with further assistance. They may ask for additional information or provide troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue. If you need any more help or have any other questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, shall I go ahead and close this support ticket for you?

@Vapi can you give me a link?
v
@Darnasis Please ask support for more info on this.

try reducing optimizeStreamingLatency from 4 to 1 or 2.
because of no response closing this ticket.

What is the default start response time?

@Darshan I'm here to assist you. If you're experiencing delays and would like to adjust settings such as
optimizeStreamingLatency
, you would typically need to access the settings within your VAPI configuration or contact support to guide you through the process. However, as a support bot, I don't have the capability to provide direct links or make changes to your system settings. To adjust the
optimizeStreamingLatency
or to understand the default start response time, you would need to refer to the documentation provided with your VAPI service or reach out to the technical support team for personalized assistance. If you're looking to close this ticket because you didn't receive a response, I can help with that. Would you like me to close this ticket for you now?
s
If you don't reply within 2-3 days I mark the ticket closed.

Hi @Shubham Bajaj
s
Hey @Darshan please create a new #1211483291191083018 ticket for your issue. Use the following template to describe your issue.
- The call ID
- When exactly this happened (the timestamp)
- What response you expected to get
- What response you actually got instead
This would really help me figure out what went wrong!
