"Unknown error" for end of call reason
# support

I created an automation for cold calling and it has been running well, but after about 300 calls its no longer working and I am getting an unknown error. I was using a number I purchased directly from my Twilio account, so I checked Twilio for errors and I am getting Error Code 31920. I then switched to the number I purchased through VAPI and I am still getting the same error.

@Dragan Jovanovic I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your automation. Error Code 31920 in Twilio typically indicates a problem with the connection to the Twilio network. This could be due to various reasons such as network issues, configuration errors, or limitations on your Twilio account, such as reaching a limit on the number of concurrent calls allowed. Since you're also experiencing the same error with the number you purchased through VAPI, it's possible that there might be a common underlying issue affecting both services. To assist you better, could you please provide more details about the error message you're receiving from VAPI? This will help me understand the specific problem and guide you towards a resolution. If you have any error logs or messages from VAPI, that would be very helpful.
You can continue this conversation by mentioning me in the message.
Got it. Tagging @User for additional help.

@Vapi The majority of the end of call reasons are 'unknown error' but one also says 'twilio connection failed'
v
@Dragan Jovanovic It seems like there might be an issue with the connection between your automation system and Twilio's services. The 'unknown error' messages indicate that the system is unable to determine the exact cause of the failure, while 'twilio connection failed' suggests that there is a specific problem with connecting to Twilio. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue: 1. **Check Twilio's Status Page**: Ensure there are no ongoing incidents or maintenance that could be affecting services. 2. **Review Your Twilio Account**: Make sure there are no restrictions or limitations on your account that could be causing the connection failures. 3. **Examine Your Network Configuration**: Verify that your network settings, including firewalls and any other security measures, are not blocking the connection to Twilio. 4. **Inspect Your Application Logs**: Look for any additional error messages or patterns that could provide more insight into the issue. 5. **Test with a Different Number**: Try using a different phone number to see if the issue is related to a specific number or configuration. 6. **Contact Twilio Support**: If you're unable to resolve the issue, reaching out to Twilio's support team can provide more detailed assistance. If you've already tried these steps or if you need further assistance with the VAPI-related errors, please let me know, and I can help guide you through additional troubleshooting steps or escalate the issue to our support team for more in-depth analysis.

Hey @Dragan Jovanovic Vapi only allows a maximum of 10 outbound calls a day and to make more than 10 calls a day you have to use number purchased from twilio. For the error code 31920, you have to check with twilio most likely some limit is applied on your account.
d
The strange part is, is that I tried both. I was making calls with my Twilio number until they suddenly stopped going through. So I switched to the number I purchased through VAPI and I was getting the same error message immediately. Do you mean that VAPIs limit is 10 concurrent calls? I used my VAPI number yesterday to make around 300 calls.
s
Vapi daily outbound call limit is 10 calls per day.
d
What do you mean, that it is not possible? I made over 300 calls the past 2 days with the VAPI phone number.
s
All of them were 300 outbound calls with a single org account and a single phone number?
d
Yes. I am not using the org thats connected to this email, it is for a client. Let me know what I need to provide so that you can look into it further.
s
Your using multiple orgs or multiple phone numbers for sure. Just share the client orgId.
d
This is the organization ID: eb6ee116-e973-4ba7-9ec9-166999fc041c.
There are multiple phone numbers on the account, but please check the recent calls. They were all made with the number purchased through VAPI.
s
can you share the phone number id, which was used to make more than 300 outbound calls.
d
Here it is: 636e6c06-afce-42c0-948b-e8b714990df9
I also contacted Twilio support because that night the calls were failing with the number I purchased there too.
This is what they said:
s
Hey @Dragan Jovanovic by end of today I will get the limit updated on your account, and are your sure the number is purchased from Vapi?
d
I’m certainly I purchased it through VAPI. What do you mean by get it updated?
s
Vapi numbers are only allowed to do 10 outbound calls a day.
Hey @Dragan Jovanovic can you try now there was an small issue related to the worker system, which is fixed.
d
Which issue are your referring to? My calls were only failing that night and I am not sure why.
s
I was reffering to the issue which caused the call failure for you.
