Distorted/slow motioned first message going out - ...

We rolled out an upgraded version of our agent this week, and the first message was a static message (mp3 file - ) that I recorded and converted into the agent voice to sound more human. When it works, (which is half the time) it works well. It gives plenty of evidence that prospects are actually talking to a human than otherwise and first impression is a huge deal for sales (difference between hang up vs. prospect opening up). But when it doesn't work, it's distorting and slowing down the first message. Increases skepticism of prospect for sure, and definitely weirds them out. Probably getting a lot more hang ups because of the difference between slow-mo voice and normal voice as well. Here's an example of the distortion: https://jtuyprjjgxbgmtjiykoa.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/recordings/8a0f74cb-e24f-48fc-948d-a963f50581f1-1731175575362-0efd8134-975d-4fc0-a767-d6216536ebc4-mono.wav Here's the original one: https://think-bullish.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/Kimber+K+Voice+Nov+7+2024+(2).mp3 Here's an example when it's NOT distorted and working in the trenches: https://think-bullish.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/210b32db-7a83-4448-9b5d-6bfeb5b7457c-1731363503743-efe54c4e-ab25-48ad-97c8-55eaf8f4ed57-mono.wav Something I've spotted is that whenever the domain was actually "storage.vapi" it worked normally. https://storage.vapi.ai/ddd5913e-53c8-4594-abdf-d309a6182e9f-1731301288646-2e6788d2-4ee1-4f01-bf93-1badb6f2bbd3-mono.wav But when it turned into "jtuyprjjgxb" like the above it distorted it. We're also in the process of changing it all so that it reflects the company brand "think-bullish" hence the variations. As a non-developer, I don't know what causes something like the recording to get stored as one vs. the other and where it's going awry, but I would appreciate the help on this.

Hey @george.l allow me sometime to get back to you on this with, what's the cause of the issue and how to reoslve it.
g
@Shubham Bajaj Appreciate you
s
Hey @george.l what's the sample rate your recording?, it needs to be 16khz.
g
Not 100% sure but htis is it: https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1306154394118783048/1306154394118783048 It works in the trenches, just not 100% of the time

Yeah if its not working all time, then sample rate is incorrect.
Please ensure it's 16khz and then try again.
Do ping me once your done, trying it out.

@Shubham Bajaj so I made the changes to 16khz now it looks like there are distortions where the sounds are sped up? Here are the 2 call ID's: 7e8b20fb-ff08-4525-9efa-8c03c8cf0808 854b4c1c-9260-4e74-979f-4db41a861086 Hope to solve this. Prior to this it was at 44khz and it was slow motions. Am I right to assume that we have to be somewhere in the middle in taht case like 30khz?
s
@george.l honestly speaking it's really weird because from our sample rate is 16000 and it shouldn't be working. I have also looked into the call recording and I am not sure if it's of 16khz sample rate. Because others are also using this feature and they have created the recordings at 16000 sample rate

Hmm I'm not sure what the next recommended step is, I think I might just pull the static first message in that case, seems like it's causing too big of a hassle. But still curious on what the challenge is. I checked the mp3 file I uploaded, still shows 16k hz though https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1306154394118783048/1310094101558984714/Screenshot_2024-11-24_at_12.06.05_PM.png?ex=6743f7b6&is=6742a636&hm=71199861ec5f54525bdb615dda62b6d5da463a4d1f12110b170d2e05fcdb3aa2&
Appreciate youu looking into this

@george.l for now can you try using static message, will update you if I find something new development about it. Because others are using the same 16khz sample rate and it's working.
Do let me know your thoughts on this.
