call recording does not show the full conversation...

some calls on VAPI don’t have a complete or correct call recording? For example, the audio recording sometimes captures only part of the conversation, starting when the customer begins speaking, and misses the beginning or other sections of the call. and some times the call recording has the agent speaking at the same time with customer speaking but in actual call they are on seprate times Here’s an example: https://storage.vapi.ai/3617955b-ab57-41dd-b377-649594a08dd4-1733726652364-f7419c6d-2b92-4f14-9fc7-661c9cf77880-mono.wav Additionally, the transcription also doesn’t seem to reflect the full call flow. Any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

@ValleyMountWalker It sounds like there may be a few different issues affecting the call recordings and transcriptions. Here are some potential causes: 1. **Truncated Recordings**: If the recording starts late or misses sections, it could be due to the voice activity detection (VAD) settings. VAD is designed to detect when someone starts speaking, but if it's not calibrated correctly, it might miss the beginnings of sentences or entire sections if the speech is too quiet. 2. **Overlapping Speech**: If the agent and customer appear to be speaking at the same time in the recording but were actually speaking at separate times, this could be a result of audio channel mixing issues. Ideally, the agent and customer should be recorded on separate audio channels to avoid this. 3. **Transcription Inaccuracies**: If the transcription doesn't reflect the full call flow, it could be due to background noise, poor audio quality, or the transcription model struggling with accents, speech patterns, or technical jargon. To address these issues, you may want to check the following: - Ensure that the VAD settings are correctly configured to capture speech as soon as it starts. - Verify that the recording setup is correctly separating the audio channels for the agent and customer. - Consider using noise reduction techniques or improving the acoustic environment to enhance audio quality. - Review and adjust the transcription model settings, or provide additional training data to improve its accuracy with your specific use cases. If you have access to the system settings or can provide more details, I can offer more targeted advice. Otherwise, it may be best to reach out to the support team for a deeper investigation into these issues.

Hey @ValleyMountWalker To help track down this issue, could you share: - When exactly this happened (the timestamp) - What response you expected to get - What response you actually got instead This would really help me figure out what went wrong!

Hello @Shubham Bajaj I’m encountering an issue during calls to my customers. Here’s what’s happening: • After making a call using the create call API with all parameters set correctly, the call flow proceeds smoothly. However, when I review the call recordings, they don’t match the actual conversation. Parts of the recording seem skipped or overlapped, where the AI and customer talk simultaneously, which didn’t happen in the live call. • For example, in the attached recording, you’ll notice the AI starts introducing itself while the customer is already answering questions. In reality, the call had a proper sequence, with the AI asking questions and the customer responding normally. • Please listen to the audio recording for further analysis—it clearly doesn’t reflect the actual call flow. Let me know your thoughts on what could be causing this. Thank you!

@ValleyMountWalker I checked the call recordings and logs, and it seems like this was just a one-off issue. However, if it’s happening frequently, please share any other call IDs so I can try to reproduce it.

@Shubham Bajaj Hello there, It has been 1.5 months, and my issue is still not resolved. I have over 20 clients on Vapi, and this is the first time I’ve encountered something like this. I contacted the solution engineer from the Vapi team and scheduled a call with him. However, one day before the call, he canceled it, saying he hadn’t noticed that it was on December 31st. Due to the New Year, he had to reschedule, and the next available slot was nearly two weeks later. I noticed the problem occurs when using my Thailand Twilio phone number, but it does not happen with my USA number. Please, I am really hoping for a fix to this issue. I have a monthly call performance review with my clients, and my issue is still unresolved.

@ValleyMountWalker Sorry for your experience, could you please share the other call id for which your experiencing this issue. If you require we can get on call as well to resolve this.

can you let me know a good time for you to come on a call?

@ValleyMountWalker check your DM.

Did you manage to solve the issue? I have a similar one. Transcription shows overlapped text but instead the audio conversation is good. It's not just one time but seems consistently doing this.
