Grok 3 and transfertool not working
# support

So I’ve had the transfer tool working perfectly for awhile. Switched to grok 3 and no longer does it work. It just hangs up vs transferring

Based on the information I found, your issue might be related to the "phone-call-control" server event interfering with Vapi's call forwarding logic. Try this solution: Remove the phone-call-control server event from your assistant According to [Discord discussion](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1335869152535121960), when this server event is utilized, call forwarding control is managed by you rather than VAPI. Removing it should allow calls to be forwarded appropriately. Source: - [Discord discussion](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1335869152535121960)

Hey! To help track down this issue, could you share: - The call ID - When exactly this happened (the timestamp) - What response you expected to get - What response you actually got instead This would really help us figure out what went wrong!
g
@Shubham Bajaj - So it happens on any call that has xAI and grok 3. When I switch it back to OpenAI the transfer works. I like grok 3 better for vapi but seems due to it being new there are some bugs to work out but the moment I switched to grok 3 calls got a lot better. So it starts to say it will transfer and then it hangs up which is what OPENAI does too but instead of hanging up it transfers. So the error says pipeline-error-xai-llm-failed - , Some call log ids - 966c5a83-96dc-4278-a3b8-a42cc2b6b686, bef78000-9ecb-4a3a-99ba-5c7233b05d93 , aebf719c-dc8a-4ddc-9738-8e4fb4f67115

@Garret (eWebify) @jonathan lei Apologies for the delay. We've fixed this issue before, but it resurfaced. Please use OpenAI or Anthropic models for now. We're investigating the root cause and ensuring it doesn't recur. We'll notify you when it's fixed.
g
Thanks. I have disabled grok on many of the assistant but not on some because grok gets hire sales conversions and is overall better with the prompt and in conversations.
j
Agreed^ overall experience with grok is better than open for sales conversions
Please keep us updated @Shubham Bajaj , thanks!
@Shubham Bajaj following up here^

Sorry no updates as of yet
g
Dang. Hoping for a resolution with this soon. Grok 3 is way better than OpenAI models for phone conversations and understanding prompts.

For the time being, please use OpenAI or Anthropic for more stable toolCalls
j
Thanks, please let us know when you fix it 🙂
c
toolCalls isn't very reliable for the grok model. So, it is not from our end.
g
Has this been figured out yet? Grok is so much better with conversations than OpenAI and understanding prompts.
c
Grok isn't pretty good at tool calling, so no.
g
Hmmmmm…is there another option to do transfers because OpenAI struggles in so many ways with conversations.
c
use anthropic models.
