High Latency

I’m having high latency scenario with my VAPI AI Voice agents connected to Twilio. The latency is near-zero when using web call, but whenever we connect Twilio to it the latency spikes to a not human like level, which leads to the people talking to the agents angry because of high delay. Can you please share what would be the best practices to reduce latency? Are there any other better options than Twilio to lower the latency to human like phone call? Specially to US and Latam markets (Brazil).

Optimize speech settings speechTimeout, use Twilio Interconnect, monitor call metrics, and ensure servers are regionally close..
