Hi all
I’m reaching out from India. We’re exploring a solution to make outbound calls from a +91 number.
Our goal is to initiate outbound calls to Indian numbers and, once answered, stream the audio directly to our backend WebSocket server and the OpenAI Realtime API for live voice interaction.
We’d like to confirm if your platform supports real-time audio streaming (input/output) over WebSocket in formats compatible with OpenAI — such as PCM16 or G.711 μ-law— similar to how Twilio handles audio passthrough. This would help us avoid any on-the-fly transcoding that can cause jitter or latency.
Is that possible from Vapi?
