10/31/2025, 4:37 PMHi One of my tool is getting executed, response is also getting. But, Agent is not sharing the data in the conversation.
below is my tool response.. our agent should share Program_Interested_in value back into the conversation once the tool is executed. But, agent is failing to bring it into conversation irrespective of any number of times that I ask the question. Can anyone help?

Tools are not fetching information into the call even though execution is successful.
Synchronous tools are failing, even though a 30-second timeout has been set.
Both of these issues can be seen in the following call:

The tool is successfully executing in both the below scenarios, but the agent is not able to bring the returned values into the conversation.
Synchronous mode: Responding with tool failed message
Asynchronous mode: no response received

When our server sends a tool call like:

Your server must return the exact same id in your response.
But your tool response is returning a different one:

Because the IDs don’t match, the assistant can't map your result back to the correct tool call — so it never injects the data into the conversation.
Please update your tool to return the same toolCallId that Vapi sends, and it should start working.
