I am new to VAPI and not too technical. I wanted my VAPI Assistant to use a custom knowledge base. I first uploaded .txt files in markdown format to the files, then within the Assistant, I added it under Files. I checked the call log messages, and the problem is that the assistant is not accessing it all. I added a prompt to ensure it goes through this knowledge base. I even tested it to ask it if it has access, and it said no, Can someone help please?

Thank you for sharing the details and error message. To help you further, could you confirm if you have created and attached a "query tool" to your assistant after uploading your files, and updated the system prompt to explicitly instruct the assistant to use this tool? This step is required for the assistant to access your custom knowledge base, not just adding files under "Files" in the dashboard. If you’re unsure how to do this, I can guide you through the process based on whether you’re using the dashboard or the API. Please let me know! Hi, This error is caused by the ongoing Google/Gemini provider issue, which is currently affecting Knowledge Base retrieval. When this happens, the KB query fails internally, so the assistant behaves as if it doesn’t have access to the files even though they’re uploaded correctly. The error:
Unexpected token '<', '<!DOCTYPE' is not valid JSON
You can track the incident and updates here: https://status.vapi.ai/incident/809181

El error sigue persistiendo en la llamada a la base de conocimiento, al igual que el status de Google Gemini este como aprobado.
