Yeah, you’re not wrong, this is a legit limitation. {{now}} is injected in UTC and there’s no way in Vapi today to redefine it or create something like {{now_est}}. Telling the model to “always convert” is unreliable because it’s still reasoning, not using a real clock. The cleanest workaround is to compute EST on your backend and pass it into the prompt as a fixed variable so the agent never has to think about time at all. That fully avoids tools and hallucinations. Is this agent running per call or staying alive across sessions? @mango
