im using vapi.ai to build voice AI agents. right now, im testing it by doing outbound calls to my personal cellphone, and im running into the following issue. So i have an iphone, and i have "Ask reason for calling" selected for "Screen unknown callers". This is a new AI feature where the Apple AI asks unknown inbound callers about what they are calling about. Here is my current Vapi.AI set up: - the VAPI AI agent is build using the Assistants feature, not Squads or Workflows. I only added a system prompt to the agent and turned on the voicemail detection using the Vapi detection provider. Everything else uses the default settings - the phone number is an imported Twilio phone number and connected to the AI agent So here are the repro steps: 1. AI dials outbound call to my phone number 2. my iphone AI connects the call in the background and asks caller AI on what the phone call is about 3. once a call reason is provided, then the call actually goes through and rings my iphone 4. i pick up the iphone and start talking In step 4., if I pickup the phone within around 10 seconds of ringing, I can still hear the vapi AI finishing their sentence of something like "Ok I will wait", which is their response to the Apple AI saying "I will connect you the user right now, please hold". Once im in the phone call, no matter what I say, how much I say, and how loudly I say it, the AI agent does not hear me AT ALL. If I listen to the phone call recording afterwards, there is zero audio coming from me. In step 4., if I pickup the phone after around 10 seconds, so after vapi AI has completely finished responding to "I will connect you the user right now, please hold", the AI agent hears everything and everything works normally. This is extremely strange. Furthermore, if I disable "Ask reason for calling", then this issue obviously also disappears. Whats going on?
