Hello VAPI Support Team,
we are currently developing a SaaS product that uses Twilio and Vapi infrastructure and will serve the DACH region. During development we encountered an unusual issue.
Since our service region is within the European Union, we are required due to existing regulations to route calls through Twilio Ireland (IE1). However, when we try to add a number in Vapi and select Twilio, we cannot save it using the EU / Ireland account credentials — it returns an error. This appears to be happening because Twilio uses different URLs for different regions.
If we instead use the US account credentials, we are able to add the number successfully. In that case the number can receive inbound calls, but forwarding and other outbound calls fail with errors.
When I opened a support ticket about this issue, I received a response saying that the call attempts return a 404 error and that this indicates a credential issue. In reality, the problem is entirely related to the regional configuration described above.
How could we solve this problem? It would be great if it were possible to select a region when adding a number in Vapi. Alternatively, is there a way to solve this via the API?
Providing this capability in the Vapi console would be a significant advantage not only for EU compliance but also for Vapi itself.
I would very much like to find a solution to this problem. The project has already made significant progress, and if we cannot resolve this issue, we will unfortunately have to migrate the entire infrastructure to another compatible provider. This would result in both time loss and a considerable amount of rework.
Thank you in advance for your support!
King regards,
Mustafa
