Whenever I try to create a tool it will give an error message saying it failed Different question, but related: what is the actual difference from a tool compared to a function? Setup seems to look exactly the same https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1253077441606324357/1253077442130870293/image.png?ex=66748acf&is=6673394f&hm=ad28e6cf8905fdb188c0acbe8b6090f08cbfb3a7dd173e0bbef9e82a70dad23b&

@DaVenthus I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with creating a tool. To assist you better, could you please provide me with the error message you're receiving? This will help me understand what might be going wrong. Regarding your second question, in the context of VAPI, a "tool" typically refers to a higher-level utility that might use one or more "functions" to perform its tasks. A "function," on the other hand, is a more basic operation that performs a specific action. While they may appear similar in setup, tools are often more complex and can encompass multiple functions to provide a broader range of capabilities or to handle more complex workflows. Functions are the building blocks that tools use to accomplish their objectives.
You can continue this conversation by mentioning me in the message.

We are working on it. Meanwhile, can you please use function calling?

thanks Sahil!
@DaVenthus from my understanding function is only tied to one assistant tools can be reused across assistants. For example you could use same bookAppointment tool across assistants.

Thanks for the update Sahil.
I was able to add tools using the POST calls though
Just not via the dashboard yet
However, with these new Tools. I am never able to have a successful conversation. The bot hangs up whenever she has to use one of her tools. Are the tools just not ready for implementation yet, or am I doing something wrong @Sahil . Call ID for latest call where it went wrong: 4200eb8a-a1e2-4b3d-831f-cf8ee29b921a
