Creating an outbound call with a SIP number

I created a SIP phone number and added it to my VAPI account under the phone number tab. When I dial the SIP URI using Zoiper, my assistant picks up and everything works fine. But when I try to initiate an outbound call with that SIP phone number, it says 'Vapi Numbers Can't Dial Outbound Yet'. This doesn't make sense for me since I've been told that connecting Kavkom with VAPI can already be done by using SIP trunking but that should mean that the outbound call should go through, right?

Just for more info, this client that I'm working with will be on the enterprise plan as they want to do 200K calls per day. We're currently in the testing phase to confirm that Kavkom can be smoothly integrated with VAPI before we scale up the call volume.

There is no call ID because the call simply won’t go through. I’m calling with a SIP number not a regular phone number from Twilio/Vonage
This is what @Sahil said about the issue: "Because it is not designed to be called in this way. You will need to trigger the call from your end through twilio and then do the SIP Invite." But my question is this: How can I trigger an AI call without using the VAPI's create call API? That's what isn't making sense to me. Because if I don't use the 'create phone call' POST request then how does the assistant get involved? Because the AI agent is meant to be calling numbers outbound and this is meant to be happening autonomously.

Thanks for the input. So you mean SIP works only for the inbound use case? Outbound calls thru the AI assistant is not possible with a SIP number? If that's the case, do you mind sharing more details about the Vapi custom development please?
