Cheaper to use VAPI on my website like a tradition...

I’m just wondering if i could bring the costs down by simply using VAPI inside of my website/webapp instead of a phone call.
v
@beau Absolutely, integrating VAPI directly into your website or web application can be a cost-effective solution. By using VAPI, you can leverage internet-based calls which typically have lower costs compared to traditional telephony. This can help reduce your expenses significantly, especially if you have a high volume of calls for your real estate lead generation. Additionally, using VAPI on your web platform can provide a seamless experience for your users and can be integrated with other web-based tools and services you might be using. If you need further assistance or have specific requirements, please let me know, and I'd be happy to help you explore your options!

Well how much of a difference is it per minute? I’m using this as more of a personal assistant with an on average usage of 2-3 hours per day.
v
@beau The cost difference per minute when using VAPI on your website or web app compared to traditional phone calls can vary depending on several factors, such as your service provider's rates, the countries you are operating in, and the volume of usage. For web-based VAPI, you typically pay for the API usage rather than per-minute charges associated with phone calls. This can result in significant savings, especially with a usage of 2-3 hours per day. The cost efficiency also comes from the fact that internet bandwidth is generally cheaper than telephony minutes. To get an accurate comparison, you would need to check the current pricing plans of your VAPI provider for API usage and compare that with the per-minute rates of your phone calls. If you provide me with the specific details of your current usage and costs, I can assist you further in estimating the potential savings.

I’m at around 15¢-17¢ a minute with the phone calls. So that’s the 5¢ to VAPI, deep gram is around 1¢, GPT4o is less than 1¢, and eleven labs voice is 7¢
v
@beau Based on the costs you've provided, here's a rough breakdown per minute for both scenarios: Traditional Phone Calls: - Cost: 15¢ to 17¢ per minute Using VAPI with Integrations: - VAPI: 5¢ - Deepgram: 1¢ - GPT-4 (OpenAI): <1¢ - Eleven Labs Voice: 7¢ - Total: 13¢ to 14¢ per minute (approx.) By using VAPI with the integrations you've mentioned, you're looking at a cost of around 13¢ to 14¢ per minute. This is a bit lower than the 15¢ to 17¢ per minute you're currently spending on phone calls. Over the course of 2-3 hours per day, this difference can add up to a significant amount. For 2 hours per day (120 minutes), the daily savings would be: - Phone Calls: 120 minutes * 17¢ = $20.40 - VAPI with Integrations: 120 minutes * 14¢ = $16.80 - Daily Savings: $20.40 - $16.80 = $3.60 For 3 hours per day (180 minutes), the daily savings would be: - Phone Calls: 180 minutes * 17¢ = $30.60 - VAPI with Integrations: 180 minutes * 14¢ = $25.20 - Daily Savings: $30.60 - $25.20 = $5.40 These are approximate savings and the actual savings could vary based on the exact per-minute rates and usage. However, it does show that using VAPI on your website or web app could be more cost-effective for your personal assistant application. If you need more detailed analysis or assistance with setting this up, please let me know!

I think you miss understood me. That 13-14¢ is what I’m spending on VAPI’s phone calls. I was wondering if the price would be cheaper if I only used VAPI integrated into my website without using a phone call but rather directly inside of my website.
v
@beau I apologize for the confusion. If you're using VAPI integrated directly into your website, you would not incur the telephony charges that are associated with traditional phone calls. Instead, you would only be paying for the API usage and the costs associated with any third-party services you integrate, such as speech-to-text, language processing, or text-to-speech services. Given the costs you've mentioned for the third-party services (Deepgram, GPT-4, Eleven Labs Voice), and excluding the telephony charges, your costs for using VAPI on your website would be: - Deepgram: 1¢ - GPT-4 (OpenAI): <1¢ - Eleven Labs Voice: 7¢ - Total API usage cost: 8¢ to 9¢ per minute (approx.) This is a significant reduction from the 13¢ to 14¢ per minute you're currently spending on VAPI's phone calls. By integrating VAPI into your website, you're effectively eliminating the telephony cost component, which can lead to substantial savings, especially with your usage of 2-3 hours per day. If you need any assistance with integrating VAPI into your website or have any further questions, feel free to ask!
b
So to confirm. If I only use the website to access VAPI then there is no “VAPI fixed cost” of 5¢?
v
@beau That's correct. If you're using VAPI solely through your website, without initiating traditional phone calls, you would not have the fixed telephony cost that is typically associated with voice calls. Your costs would be limited to the API usage fees for the services you're integrating with VAPI, such as Deepgram for speech-to-text, GPT-4 for language processing, and Eleven Labs for text-to-speech. Therefore, the cost per minute would be the sum of the charges from these integrated services, without an additional fixed cost from VAPI for the telephony service. This can lead to a lower overall cost for your application's voice features when operated exclusively through your website. If you have any more questions or need further clarification, please let me know!

It wont make much difference apart from telephony cost
