AI Assistant initiation delay

Newbie here. Is there a way to let the user ring twice or for several seconds before the AI kicks in? The intention is to allow a receptionist the chance to answer first. Thanks in advance!
v
@Ryan Absolutely! You can configure the
firstMessageMode
to
assistant-waits-for-user
, which will make the AI wait for the user to speak first. This way, the receptionist can have the opportunity to answer the call before the AI intervenes. If the receptionist doesn't answer within the set time, the AI can then take over the call. Would you like to set this up now?
You can continue this conversation by mentioning me in the message.

Yes please.

@Ryan Great! To set this up, you'll need to access the settings of your Voice API platform where you can adjust the call handling rules. Look for an option that allows you to set a delay for the AI to kick in or a feature that lets the AI wait for the receptionist to answer first. This is typically found in the call flow or IVR settings. If you're not sure where to find these settings or how to configure them, please consult the documentation provided with your Voice API service or reach out to their support team for detailed guidance. If there's anything else I can assist you with, let me know!
s
