Hello, just want to ask if there really is no limit to how many files an assistant can have in its knowledge base? Read in the docs that there's no cap on number of files and just a 100 mb file size limit but when we try to assign files on the assistant in a dashboard, it only always say 97 and the names of the other 3 files. Thank you! https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1313592106878636063/1313592107625087068/image.png?ex=6750b17b&is=674f5ffb&hm=03c8312bfb9ceecc8c32ab15f0f692fe2dd888a4755a1480901ba37160f8e84d&

@sj Hello! The information you've read is partially correct. While there is a 100 MB file size limit, there is indeed a cap on the number of files an assistant can have in its knowledge base. As you've observed, the limit is set to 100 files. If you're seeing only 97 file names and the other 3 are missing, it could be due to a display issue or a limitation in the dashboard interface. If you need to manage more than 100 files, you might consider consolidating some of the information or prioritizing the most relevant files for your assistant's knowledge base. If you have further questions or need assistance with managing your files, please don't hesitate to ask for support.

@Shubham Bajaj please confirm thank you

Why? What purpose is there to do this?
Consolidation that is forced and unnecessary, especially when you allow unlimited files to be stored anyways, just leads to lower quality responses for larger datasets.
@sj @Shubham Bajaj
s
@sj you can store unlimited files with the assistant but UI has it's limitations so it shows the file names of first names and displays there are more 97 files attached to the assistant.
@Brian Searl your partially correct here ul files attached to the assistant will lead to lower quality responses but not the opposite.
b
I strongly disagree if you are chunking correctly from your KB. We've tested this and proven smaller files work MUCH better. Either way, what is the purpose of restricting it on your end? @Shubham Bajaj
s
I said the same smaller files and lesser in number works the best.
b
I just disagree with lesser in number. Sometimes that is not possible with a large business with lots of customer service questions. But still the point stands, what good is it to VAPI to restrict this. Even if you disagree, let us fail @Shubham Bajaj
s
@Brian Searl we are not restricting you, you can use UL files. In the UI if there are more than 100 files we show the names of first three files and then show a chip saying more 97 files.
+97 more
b
@Shubham Bajaj But if there are 103 files we want to use, it is not using them all. We have proven this through testing. It answers a question correctly if the total files selected is under 100. If it is 101 the extra file's information is not answered correctly.
@Shubham Bajaj for clarity, we also tried this via the API and once you get above 100 files it begins to overwrite them instead of adding more.

Hey @Brian Searl can you create a new #1211483291191083018 ticket, we cannot bombard this ticket.

Hey! To help track down this issue, could you share: - The call ID - When exactly this happened (the timestamp) - What response you expected to get - What response you actually got instead This would really help me figure out what went wrong!
