Bought number unverified

I have bought 1 number through VAPI and imported another trial number with Twilio. When I try to call the purchased number I get the error saying it's unverified. When I call the trial number, the call is queued successfully (although it shouldn't be, as trial numbers cannot be called on), but the call is ended instantly with a reason "Customer Busy". https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1322380808316780554/1322380808467779634/image.png?ex=6770aa99&is=676f5919&hm=3a4e6c799822f154b704f07065b7490218906fb7cb62481aeb4c740bf12ba4aa&

@Balance It sounds like there might be a couple of issues to address here. For the purchased number that is showing as unverified, this could be due to a configuration issue or it might need to be verified through your VAPI account settings. As for the trial number, even though it's queued successfully, trial numbers often have restrictions that could lead to calls being ended abruptly. To resolve these issues, I would recommend the following steps: 1. Verify the purchased number: - Ensure that the number is correctly imported and configured in your VAPI account. - Check if there are any additional verification steps required by VAPI for the number to be active. 2. Trial number restrictions: - Review the limitations associated with Twilio trial numbers to understand why the call might be ending with a "Customer Busy" status. - Ensure that the trial number is configured correctly in your VAPI account. If you need assistance with verifying the purchased number or understanding the restrictions on the trial number, please ask support for more info on this. They will be able to provide you with specific guidance based on your account details and the numbers in question.

@Vapi The number was purchased through VAPI. As I read in the docs numbers bought through VAPI are ready to be used (either for inbound or outbound calling).
v
@Balance That's correct, numbers purchased through VAPI should be ready for use without additional verification for inbound or outbound calling. If you're encountering an error stating the number is unverified, there might be a configuration issue or a temporary service disruption. For the purchased number, please ensure the following: - The number is correctly configured in your VAPI account. - The
serverUrl
is set correctly to handle calls for this number. - If you intend to use it for incoming calls, ensure that an
assistantId
is set if required. For the trial number imported from Twilio: - Trial numbers typically have restrictions, and while they can be configured to queue calls, they may not complete the call as expected. - Ensure that the trial number is also correctly configured in your VAPI account. If you've confirmed that all settings are correct and you're still facing issues, it might be best to reach out to VAPI support for a more detailed investigation into your specific case. They can look into the backend to diagnose any problems with the number verification or call handling process.
b
@Vapi The issue persists after setting serverUrl correctly.
v
@Balance I'm sorry to hear that the issue persists even after setting the
serverUrl
correctly. It seems like we need to take a closer look into your account settings and the configuration of your numbers. Since I'm here to assist you as best as I can, I would suggest reaching out to VAPI support for a more in-depth investigation. The support team will be able to check the status of your purchased number and the configuration of your trial number to identify why you're experiencing these issues. They have the tools and access required to troubleshoot effectively. Would you like me to guide you on how to contact VAPI support, or is there anything else I can assist you with at this moment?
s
@Balance for making outbound call from trial numbers you have to verify the numbers first in your account whereas the trial number can succesfully be called but twilio was blocking it.
b
but is the number bought from VAPI for 2$ considered a trial one? I mean in the docs it’s stated so when you buy it you can make the calls in and out right away
s
No the number purchased from Vapi, isn't the trial number.
b
the issue is when I try to call it, there is an error as on the picture I first sent
s
Can you share the phone number id?

@Balance the provider is twilio for this number not Vapi.

I bought it by clicking on "Buy Number" in the "Phone Number" section in dev dashboard. there is no option to choose phone number provider or anything except preferred area code https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1322380808316780554/1324451774920396840/Screenshot_2025-01-02_at_10.29.08_AM.png?ex=67783356&is=6776e1d6&hm=9f6005ead2b3538d1390323962ac17589f64f8bdab56c8764c4e0f506cddc78b&

@Balance What you can do is cancel the subcription I will do the refund and then you can purchase another number, works for you?
b
yep, works fine with me
i’ll try again and tell you if everything works
I deleted the old number and bought a new one, like you suggested. but it seems it is saying again that it is a Twillio number. I guess my question is how to purchase a verified phone number through Vapi.
s
By default all numbers are verified but in case your doing international calling outside US Region you have to purchase numbers from Twilio directly.
Do let me know your thoughts on this.
a
I work with @Balance on the project. Let me chime in. the both numbers in the call are within US region. there is no international calling happening. The outbound number is +1 (231) 707 8524 (Twilio test number) The inbound number is +1 (415) 968 0426 (Twilio number that was purchased through Vapi.) both are +1 country code that is US
b
Hey there! Everything worked with two VAPI numbers, thanks for communicating and helping with the issue
s
@Alexander Sova it's working for you as well right?
a
Yes
