Hi @User
I am writing to report an issue we've encountered with our outbound calling system. Currently, when we place an outbound call to a number that has voicemail activated, and the recipient does not answer, the voicemail system engages. VAPI system interprets this as the call being answered by a person, marking it as "in progress." Consequently, our AI agent begins interacting with the voicemail system, leading to unnecessary interactions and associated costs.
We seek a solution where the system can detect when a call is answered by a voicemail service and handle it appropriately—either by keeping the call in a queue or terminating it—so that we don't initiate the AI agent's script. This adjustment would prevent unnecessary resource utilization and expenses.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your guidance on implementing a solution.
