As the title says, I created a new assistant, gave it a prompt, a first message and a voice, then set up a phone number to call that assistant. When called, it goes to a blank template assistant. When checking in Vapi logs, it says it has called the correct assistant.

Hi there! 👋 I understand how frustrating it can be when your configured assistant isn't working as expected. I don't have access to your specific logs to determine exactly why the logs show the correct assistant is being called while a blank template is being reached. However, I can definitely help with troubleshooting this issue based on common causes. Here are several potential reasons why this might be happening: ## Configuration Issues The most common cause is configuration problems with the assistant ID. According to the [troubleshooting information](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1336652401733668864), ensure that the assistant ID is correctly set on your phone number. Even if the logs indicate the correct assistant is being called, there might be an issue with how the assistant request is being processed. ## Check Your Phone Number Configuration In the Vapi dashboard, verify that: - The phone number is correctly registered and verified - The assistant is properly linked to the phone number in the
Inbound
area of the phone number detail view - There are no conflicting configurations ## Server URL Configuration If you're using a Server URL, this could be causing issues. According to [Vapi documentation](https://docs.vapi.ai/server-url/events), if a phone number doesn't have an
assistantId
, Vapi will attempt to retrieve the assistant from your server. Try these steps: 1. Go to Phone Numbers in the dashboard 2. Select your phone number 3. If using a Server URL, remove it or ensure it's correctly configured 4. Make sure to directly assign the assistant ID to the phone number ## Check for Webhook Issues If you're using Twilio, verify that the [Twilio webhook settings](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1343208312249913397) are pointing to Vapi's server correctly. ## Examine the Logs More Closely When reviewing the logs:
- Look for specific error messages like "Couldn't Get Assistant" - Check for discrepancies in the
assistantId
within call reports - Review the debugging artifacts for more detailed error information ## Account Credit Issues Insufficient credits on your account might cause Vapi to default to a blank template assistant, according to [support information](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1335176375354523741). Is there anything specific in the logs you'd like me to help interpret, or would you like more detailed troubleshooting steps for any of these areas? It is only this assistant, if I swap to a different assistant with the same number, it works
@User Could this be because it thinks the voice doesnt exist? In Vapi it says it can't find the voice ID (yet it still actually works)
Okay so the actual issue seems to be that it refuses to save any changes to the assistant
This issue is still ongoing @Vapi, the user dashboard is not publishing any updates
@Vapi Still an issue, no updates on the user dashboard are saved
