Hi! I've set firstMessage and firstMessageMode to assistant-speaks-first and when I initiate a call by vapi api using createCall api, it calls the customer and while ringing the assistant speaks after the customer answers the call, assistant does not speak anything. How to make the assistant speak after the user answers the call?

Change the first message mode to assistant waits for the user
s
yeah i've tried it but it makes assistant speak if the user speaks first, I don't want user to wait the assistant's response because my call is outbound. My vapi assistant created on the fly with the create call api, calls the customer
so i've set assistant-speaks-first mode manually as well, no changes. Assistant speaks first, yeah, but he does that before the user answers the call. I've detected it in the call recording
but it was working 1 week before. but now it is not
@Shubham Bajaj, the assistant is speaking before the user answers the call, if you noticed, assistant spoke before the ring, after the ring and the user answered the call, user just doesn't listen anything, because assistant spoke the first message already before the user answer the call
So, I think it is a bug, because I've tried with the assistant created in vapi dashboard on interface, by initiating an outbound call to the specific phone I have. There also the same problem, assitant is not speaking the first message defined on it

looking into it.

Thank u
im looking forward to your feedback thx
Hi, any news?

Indeed, I have verified this with the team. They have indicated that the issue is related to the timing of the telephone status updates. In this particular case, the telephone is sending us early status updates that initiate the call, which is why before the user even accepts the call, we voice out the initial message. If this issue is recurring for you, please provide the call IDs. We can share the relevant telephone call IDs with you, and you can subsequently contact the telephone service provider to address this matter.
