Masking calls with headers
# support

I understand that Vapi cannot be masked directly. When using Telnyx, they offer number verification for this feature. However, they say you have to send the headers for identification. I add the headers to the calls I generate, and it still won't show the call from the other number. my calls are working fine with the new number I added. What I want is to mask the number I purchased with my own number, which I added during verification on the Telnyx platform, so that when I make calls from the one linked to Vapi, it switches to the one from the verification, which is my own. My goal is to mask the number I already verified with on the Telnyx platform. They tell me it's added through the headers, but it's not possible. My Telnyx number was linked to Vapi through their key. Do you think I should integrate it with the SIP configuration? These are the headers: P-Preferred-Identity: sip:+1234567890@vapi.yourprovider.com P-Asserted-Identity: sip:+1234567890@vapi.yourprovider.com Remote-Party-Id: sip:+1234567890@vapi.yourprovider.com; party=calling; screen=yes; privacy=off From: "Your Name" sip:+1234567890@vapi.yourprovider.com

Thanks for sharing all those details! I checked our resources, but I couldn't find enough info to answer your question about masking calls with headers using Telnyx and Vapi, or whether SIP configuration would help with presenting your verified number as the caller ID. Since this is a bit outside what we have documented, I'm escalating your question to a human expert who can take a closer look and get you the best answer. Hang tight—we'll get back to you as soon as possible! If you want to check out the general SIP integration steps for Telnyx and Vapi, you can find them [here](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1colSHClx0PE-c_5yfP1PM7ssBCx8FfmG/view?usp=sharing), but it doesn't cover call masking specifically.

Telnyx response Verify VAPI Settings: On the VAPI platform, verify that the Telnyx number is configured to use the verified number as the Caller ID. Make sure there are no settings that override the Caller ID in VAPI. My Telnyx number was linked to Vapi only through its key. Do you think I should integrate it with the SIP configuration? I want to send some headers.

Hey! To help track down this issue, could you share: - The call ID - When exactly this happened (the timestamp) - What response you actually got instead This would really help us figure out what went wrong!

All of these calls were rejected or unanswered because they're from the exact test I ran; none were answered. These calls were made using the Telnyx SIP integration. Hi @NicolasBcortes thanks for raising these issues. Here’s our plan of action: Telnyx Caller ID Masking - I will fill a feature request to add true “caller ID masking” support for Telnyx. That will let you present your verified number on outbound calls, just like you can today with Twilio. - I’ll update this ticket as soon as I know more. Voicemail Detection on iPhone vs. Android - Android and iOS handle call progress and silence detection differently—things like the network’s voice activity detection (VAD) thresholds and the way SIP INVITEs are signaled can vary by device and carrier. - If you can share call ids where voicemail detection failed (especially on Android), please share them in this thread. (i knew about your old thread but don't want you to run in circles)
> Ended Reason -> Customer Ended Call > Ended Reason ->Silence Timed Out > Ended Reason -> Silence Timed Out @NicolasBcortes , I need to thoroughly check these issues.

Okay, thanks for the Telnyx caller ID. Here are all the IDs. I assume they identify the phone's connection to identify it. 38313575-a6de-488a-9267-84aa08d02ecb 84e80fac-253a-4fcc-8844-6b6f55d47e0d 84100be6-53d1-4dca-a265-42fa588f3bf4 665b20a9-f8a2-4ee0-8276-93b75cace2c2 c9a2865c- 597f-4379-91e3-d0c1a9c950fe 06b3d2df-b0cd-4ffa-9180-229bc149908a 89410b90-8b41-4e73-9737-b1fe321aa16e a3b3ea47-bde0-49cd-8646-60f9c8b68358 b9ca45e3-f53d-4ea1 -baed-eb88e451123b beea3859-e34a-4e48-88e4-cf85db3692fc e7dea695-13d7-4323-b8d9-0abd7fc045aa 7589fa5e-1cd9-4506-baef-000f687c526e a3a10051-2bdf-46b1-a5fa-fb dadd4db127 5b0c435e-1039-49b2-a9b8-8cc06f0734a7 2236c672-22d6-48c9-bb94-fbf0aa38d832 5bcea3ec-dca8-4c99-a084-db9d7ec6fe0e 28051699-1298-4645-8940-758383ffd72c
