why is "Kylie" Vapi voice not supported in API?
# support
i
when i try to use Kylie, (available in the user interface) in the api, I get an error message: voices.voiceId must be one of the following values: Elliot, Rohan, Lily, Savannah, Hana, Neha, Cole, Harry, Paige, Spencer\
v
The "Kylie" voice was recently announced as a new Vapi voice, but it appears the API has not yet been updated to accept "Kylie" as a valid
voiceId
.
This is likely why you are seeing the error message listing only the previous voices. I recommend monitoring the [Vapi changelog](https://docs.vapi.ai/changelog/2025/5/14) for updates or reaching out to Vapi support to confirm when API support for "Kylie" will be available. Kylie was working recently just fine. I have her set as a backup voice, and now all calls that have her set as a backup voice are failing, because of that error.
a
wow, then what's the sense in adding backup voice, if in case it fails - it will crash even the main and functioning one? We've been using Kylie too and got a ton of failed calls yesterday too. plz fix this @Vapi Support Bot

It appears the "Kylie" voice is currently not supported in the API, even though it was recently announced and may have worked previously. This could be due to a temporary issue or a change not yet reflected in the documentation. I recommend reaching out to [Vapi support](support@vapi.ai) and monitoring the [changelog](https://docs.vapi.ai/changelog/2025/5/14) for updates on when "Kylie" will be available again in the API. can you send call_id pls? Also, sorry we are migrating our PVC provider which is causing this issue.
i
ya, its wild that a backup voice would cause the call to fail when its not being used. bad set up.
s
@isaiahbuilds can you share the call_ids please. We will check on our side why their are not working as expected.
