Urgent: Need help with Idle message and assistant ...

I have created an assistant which asks a series of questions from the user. But I am facing a challange. If the user doesn't respond to a question or responses in very low voice (which assistant doesn't catch), the assistant doesn't say anything for a long time. I want that if assistant doesn't get anything from user for 4-5 seconds, assistant should repeat the question in reframed and simpler language. I have figured that I'd need to use Idle messages through assistant hooks for my usecase. But I am not understading where and how do I implement this is the VAPI dashboard. For the text, I am from product background and not good with development and technical implementation.

Hi Himanshu Bansal, To configure idle messages for a multilingual assistant, you can use language-specific assistants or dynamically configure your idle messages. Here’s a concise guide: 1. **Create language-specific assistants**: For each language, set up an assistant with the respective hook configurations. For example:
Copy code
typescript
   // English assistant
   await client.assistants.create({
     name: "EN Support",
     hooks: [{ on: "customer.speech.timeout", options: { timeoutSeconds: 10 }, do: [{ type: "say", exact: [ "Are you still there?", "Can I help you with anything else?" ] }] }]
   });

   // Spanish assistant
   await client.assistants.create({
     name: "ES Support",
     hooks: [{ on: "customer.speech.timeout", options: { timeoutSeconds: 10 }, do: [{ type: "say", exact: [ "¿Sigues ahí?", "¿Puedo ayudarte con algo más?" ] }] }]
   });
2. **Dynamic configuration**: Use model-generated responses that adjust based on the language detected via the
say.prompt
option:
Copy code
typescript
   await client.assistants.create({
     name: "Multi Support",
     hooks: [{
       on: "customer.speech.timeout",
       options: { timeoutSeconds: 10 },
       do: [{ type: "say", prompt: "Based on the above conversation in {{transcript}} ask the user in the language of the conversation if they need help or if not you will be ending the call. If no conversation is provided, default to English." }]
     }]
   });
For additional customization, you can explore the [Idle messages configuration guide](https://docs.vapi.ai/assistants/idle-messages).
