Outbound calls ending with error-assistant-did-not-receive-customer-audio at
~15 seconds on every unanswered call
We're running outbound campaigns via Telnyx SIP + Vapi. Calls that are
answered work perfectly — AI converses, transfers, etc. But every call that
goes unanswered dies at exactly ~15 seconds with
call.in-progress.error-assistant-did-not-receive-customer-audio before the
carrier voicemail can pick up (typically 25-30s).
This means we can never reach voicemail. Out of 100 calls today, 46% ended
this way.
What we've tried (none fixed it):
- Disabled HD Voice on all Telnyx numbers
- Added G711A + OPUS codecs alongside G711U
- Switched from voicemailDetection to the Voicemail Tool
- Disabled voicemailDetection entirely
- Increased beepMaxAwaitSeconds to 30
- Verified no ring timeout set on Telnyx side (timeout_1xx and timeout_2xx
both null)

Question: Is there a way to increase the internal ring timeout / audio wait
threshold beyond 15 seconds so calls can ring long enough to reach voicemail?
Is this configurable?
