Urgent. Failure Claude Opus 4.6

Hi Vapi team, I’m having a recurring production issue with assistant Lidia. Assistant ID: 908cf588-1470-468a-bc94-9c9d1dd1454e Model: Anthropic / claude-opus-4-6 Setup: Anthropic managed by Vapi, not BYOK Affected calls: 019e21e2-7c12-7000-9f37-bb272ace3a36 019e21f3-1426-7000-b4e6-093221d8ce48 019e21fb-fc0a-7001-b5bc-f1c347b42aa8 All ended after ~5 min with: call.in-progress.error-vapifault-anthropic-429-exceeded-quota I have Vapi credits available, so this seems like a Vapi-managed Anthropic quota/capacity issue. Can you urgently confirm if there are limits on Claude Opus and how to prevent live calls from dropping?

I’ve seen this happen before with Vapi-managed Anthropic models, especially on Claude Opus during higher load periods. Since you still have Vapi credits, it’s likely tied to provider-side rate limits/capacity rather than your balance. I can help you troubleshoot and stabilize it by checking model fallback handling, retries, concurrency limits, and whether switching temporarily to BYOK or another model tier would prevent live call drops. @Estefan

Hi, I can help investigate this. It does sound like a Vapi-managed Anthropic quota/capacity issue rather than your credits, especially with multiple live calls failing on anthropic-429-exceeded-quota. I’ve worked on similar Vapi production issues and can help identify the cause and suggest ways to prevent live call drops. Happy to take a look. @Estefan

Hi Vapi team, the Anthropic 429 quota issue has returned. Assistant: Claudia Assistant ID: 187efdae-ceab-43ee-ae12-1ebbc716de31 Setup: Anthropic managed by Vapi, not BYOK Call ID: 019e26f0-2963-7000-9238-86fc1d12f073 Error: call.in-progress.error-vapifault-anthropic-429-exceeded-quota This also happened before with assistant Lidia. I have Vapi credits available and no Anthropic BYOK, so this looks like a Vapi-managed Anthropic quota/capacity issue. Can someone urgently confirm the root cause and how to prevent live calls from dropping?

Hi, Thank you for reporting this and providing the specific Call IDs.
The error anthropic-429-exceeded-quota indicates a rate limit encounter on the managed Anthropic provider side. Our engineering team has looked into this, and the issue should now be resolved. You should see much better stability for your assistant "Lidia" moving forward.
If you happen to encounter this error again or notice calls dropping, please let us know immediately and share the latest Call IDs so we can investigate further.
