Im providing the Assistant with an mp3 and it works well in the vapi dashboard but when i create a call using the api the first message plays in slow motion i think(very deep and not understandable)

@Janko I'm glad to hear that the MP3 works well in the VAPI dashboard. It sounds like there might be an issue with the audio encoding or the playback speed when you're creating a call using the API. To assist you better, could you please provide me with more details about how you're implementing the call? Specifically, information about the audio file's bitrate, sample rate, and the exact API call you're making (with sensitive information redacted) would be very helpful. This will allow me to give you more accurate advice on how to resolve the issue.
You can continue this conversation by mentioning me in the message.

in the api call im providing the assistantID and use assistantOverride on the model

Had that as well, when you call the assistant again, it's working. It seems as if the file has to be cached on the first call. This are the settings which work for me: https://cloud.fini.as/BBbTcn23 However, I wanted to generate a mp3 file on demand, which worked, but was "slow" at first, too. When a user calls again, it worked then, but is no solution which is feasible for me.

for me the first time i call it is loud nois playing and the second time works in the vapi dashboard but using the api call the first message is still played in slow motion. not delayd but slowed down. mb 3/4 the original. im using the same audio settings as you showed...
not solved for me yet

Hey @Janko , I'm having the same issues with the initial message playback. Did you figure out how to make it play correctly?
g
@Shubham Bajaj wondering if this has been a persistent issue and if it can be solved. Seems like it's been a challenge for users for a couple months now, any thoughts?

I really think that there is a problem on Vapi's side, because I've tried: - .wav, .mp3, .au - 8 kHz, 12 kHz, 24 kHz - mulaw, alaw, u8, s16, s16p, fltp - 64 kbps, 128 kbps, 192 kbps, 384 kbps I don't understand very well what these things are, so I can't be sure I'm not doing something stupid, but so far nothing got it to play at the correct rate. I started with an mp3 exported from 11labs and used ffmpeg to convert it to different formats. All of my trial files played well on my media player, and they also all play well when the assistant is connected over the web. Only over the phone that it plays incorrectly

Hey @george.l and @Ricardo Basto allow me sometime to check if it's an issue with Vapi.
Also create your support tickets and mention all details over there.

Not sure if this helps but ours does work, it's just like 50% of the time. I think it has to do with maybe how Vapi works with providers in the backend (e.g. gpt4o cluster or maybe even voice?). Here's ours: https://think-bullish.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/Kimber+K+Voice+Nov+7+2024+(2).mp3 We copy and paste that into the first message. When the recording starts with the link storage.vapi.ai it works. But when it starts with something jibberish like jtuyppjr.supabase.com it's distorted. I'm not technical either but supabase seems to be a backend platform that allows for storage etc. I think when the audio file is getting stored there vs. another back-end (?) it gets distorted. Nor sure if this helps @Shubham Bajaj
j
no i didn't manage to fix it
