NOT SAVING MY CHANGES AFTER PUBLISHING
# support

@Vapi @Shubham Bajaj I am trying to keep my cool but this has been happening far too often. I make changes, I hit publish, it says "assistant updated successfully" and then I go into my account the next day and none of the changes are there. WHY is this happening??? Does it have to do with too many people working in the same organization? Is it just a bug? Here are the assistants I made changes to yesterday 4/12: 757d16e3-0d0a-45bf-9d66-3a00154ddf58 3750008f-7ada-40e2-9fce-bbc52711d436 c07a6a28-a212-40e2-b68d-9a156a73f120 ddaac8c0-c9b8-4f2c-9ef6-739bf350b6f8 Is it possible to see version history or something? I deleted my cache at your advice a couple weeks ago and it's still happening!!!!!!! please help 😖 🙏

Hi there! I understand how frustrating this must be for you 😓 I don't have specific information about your particular assistants, but I can definitely help explain what might be happening with your changes not saving after publishing. ## About Version History Unfortunately, Vapi does not currently have a version history feature that users can access. According to [information in Discord](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1334944779850485790), this feature doesn't exist yet, though it has been added to feature requests. ## Why Changes Might Not Be Saving There are several known issues that could be causing your changes not to save: 1. **Server URL and Header Settings Bug**: There's a known bug where server URL secrets and headers in the assistant advanced settings sometimes don't save after publishing. According to [user reports](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1341692740454584331), "Even if you add any header, save it - refresh the page and it's gone." 2. **Navigation Timing Issue**: Changes might not save if you navigate away from the page too quickly before it refreshes. As noted in [Discord discussions](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1341692740454584331), "changes are not saved if the user clicks away to a different menu before refreshing the page." 3. **System Errors or Rollbacks**: According to [support information](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1336235351458713621), system errors or update rollbacks could cause assistants to revert to older versions. ## Multiple Users Impact
Regarding multiple users in the same organization, there is some information suggesting this could be a factor. According to [one report](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1344239441786703903), a similar issue was "only for 1 particular org, other orgs are not affected." This suggests that organization-specific factors (possibly including multiple users) could contribute to the problem. ## Potential Workarounds Here are some workarounds that might help: 1. **Refresh After Changes**: Try refreshing the page after making changes but before navigating away. This has helped some users according to [Discord reports](https://discord.com/channels/1211482211119796234/1211483291191083018/threads/1341692740454584331). 2. **Use the API**: If possible, try using the API to update your assistants instead of the dashboard, as this might be more reliable. 3. **Save and Test Incrementally**: Make changes in smaller batches and test after each save to ensure they're being retained. Is there anything specific about the changes you're making that I can help troubleshoot further? Sorry for the inconvenience, we are looking into it

yeah this happens to me a lot too, the dashboard is really buggy
also, most of the times I'm unable to start a web call to test, and I have to do page refreshes
and sometimes I lose changes after a page refresh

Currently, Vapi doesn’t offer version history, so it’s advisable to coordinate edits carefully and document changes externally until a fix is implemented..
h
Same issues as well. Until Vapi resolves this I've been hitting the publish button about 3 times in a row to make the changes stick and then do a hard refresh to double check the update.
k
We are sorry for the bad experience, this is considered as P0 item by the team. Don't worry, by the end of today GMT-4, this will be the issue of Assistant changes not being saved even after publish will be fixed..
k
how do you do the hard refresh?
s
We are working on it and it will get resolved asap.
h
On Mac you can use Command + Shift + R
