After going through the documentation for SIP calling I notice you can't generate a SIP address through the methods listed online, without having "sip.vapi.ai". Is there any way to BYO sip address with the different provider like twillio.com ? I've tried multiple ways to get this to work with no success. Anything would be helpful like documentation on the subject.

Yes, you can use your own SIP provider by configuring a BYO SIP trunk using their API.. https://docs.vapi.ai/advanced/sip/sip-trunk

Well, to do that, you can use Cloudonix and some DNS magic to do that.

Ideally I'd just import a twillio SIP address the same way i can import a twillio phone number

@OLEYO you can't do any of those, as both are reliant on their domain names for routing

seems like i have two options, telnyx looks like it can do this and im just waiting to test if it works. or DNS forwarding but i dont know if that'll work and I have to test it too. Ideally a solution within vapi would be the cleanest @Nir Simionovich (CEO@Cloudonix) @Kings_big💫

I'm not familiar with Telnyx's DNS forwarding solution, but it means that for every minute you will pay Telnyx inbound/outbound charges. Cloudonix isn't a DNS forwarding solution, but a true SIP routing system designed for multi-domain scenarios - so it's different.

right an in theory cloudonix could do this routing to mask the address, could you point me to the right documents? fine if not ill try look up online
